Benazir Bhutto
27 12 2007It was a great shock to hear that Benazir Bhutto was assassinated earlier today. Only a few days ago we posted our article “Please Don’t call me Judas” where we chose to include Benazir Bhutto’s name and its translation; Benazir meaning “without comparison” (in Urdu) and to pay her our respect.
We wish to send our deepest condolences to the people in Pakistan and to Benazir Bhutto’s family.
May her soul rest in peace.

Such a surprise. Somehow, because she was so fearless about appearing in public, it seemed as if Bhutto would be unharmed - no logic to that, of course, but one couldn’t help feeling that way, whenever her name came on the news. Not that most of us North Americans gave the matter much thought, I suppose… but here’s another reminder that this is a very unsettled time in history, and it’s a small world indeed.
